I’m a graduate student currently pursuing my Masters in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. With a background in Anthropology/Archaeology, I have found many parallels in the psychology of human behaviour and how we navigate through the world with our own unique stories and experiences. I am passionate about ensuring that each client that comes to Skylark has an inviting, welcoming experience that is whole-heartedly supportive. I currently oversee client intake, the coordinating team, and clinic management, frequently working with community and governments organizations to create accessibility to mental health services. A self-proclaimed medieval history nerd, heavy metal music buff, and dog lover, I often relate the power of storytelling as a tool for healing and connectionWith a warm heart and an empathetic spirit, I am dedicated to fostering a supportivesafe and inclusive environment for every client.

Q & A With our Staff

A little bit more about me

What is your education?

I am currently pursuing my Masters of Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. Previously, I completed my Bachelors in Anthropology; specializing in Archaeology.

What led you to counselling?

My interest in counselling comes from my own journey in mental health. I had a positive experience with a counsellor who had a mind for thinking outside of the box, I never knew what she was going to say next- in the best way! This impact on me fuelled my passion to help others receive the same care. I have a huge fascination with human behaviour, the science behind how and why we think and feel the way we do!

What do people say your biggest strength is?

My approachability! I have been told my open and disarming personality makes those around me feel comfortable, safe, and heard.

Something you’re proud of (challenge you’ve overcome, etc.)?

Stepping out of my comfort zone and moving across the world to live in England! I lived in the Lake District in the north for a few years and it was great having big cities like Manchester close by, and the wild ruggedness of the Scottish Highlands!

What/who inspires you?

Cliche to say, but my family! I have some pretty cool extended family members that I have seen rise through tough times, to become the best versions of themselves in their family and professional lives. I am also inspired by strong female voices in underrepresented cultures, their tenacity and resilience in speaking up on important issues ignites a fire in my soul!

Favourite book and why?

Anything Tolkien, because of his pioneering in fantasy literature. His intricate storytelling and creation of an expansive and detailed universe, to me, is the best form of escapism!

Also, The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. The characters in the novel are so dynamic- I find myself loving and hating them for the very human choices they make throughout the plot, and as I get older my perspective changes on them which is neat! The engaging historical context (it’s set in 1100AD) and complex characters make for a very intricate plot that stays with me for weeks after every time I read it.

Favourite things to do?

I am an amateur Rock Hound! Identifying and looking for interesting fossils or geodes while hiking or walking has given me so much joy recently! I’ve been known to seek out geographical hotspots in BC to try to find dinosaur bones… to no avail. Yet!
