Aman Bains

I have always been curious about the connection between human experiences and their impact on a person’s view of themselves and the world. My counselling experiences include extensive educational and practical background in the mental health and addictions field. I received my Master’s in Counselling from City University where I completed my thesis on the impact of intergenerational trauma within the South Asian community. I have experience working with individuals from all walks of life, and would love to walk alongside you in your journey of self-exploration, growth, and healing.

What do people say your biggest strength is?

My ability to show up for others in a non-judgemental way. Most people in my close circle would say what you see is what you get when it comes to me. I most often wear my heart on my sleeve and show up as my most authentic self.

Something you’re proud of (challenge you’ve overcome, etc.)?

Something I am proud of is the fact that I try my best each and everyday to live my life in a way that is authentic to me and what I believe in.

What led you to counseling?

My curiosity to understand why we are the way we are. No matter what path I chose in life whether it be school or work it always led me down this path of providing a listening ear which is how I ended up here.

Favorite book?

The silent patient by Alex Michaelides because I love a good psychological thriller.

What/who inspires you?

Travelling inspires me. Being able to bare witness to different ethnicities, culture, food and history is an honor. This amazing world has so much to offer and sometimes we just have to take the chance.

Favorite things to do?

I love going for walks by the water, working out, hanging out with friends and family, reading, listening to crime podcasts.

What would you tell a client who is meeting you for the first time?

I have sat in that chair before and I understand the nervousness and hesitation you may be feeling. I am only here to walk alongside you, this is your journey.

One thing you’ve learned from working with people?

Everyone has a story, and each story has something to offer.
