Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner. I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.

What do people say your biggest strength is?
My compassion for others in and outside of the counselling office.
Something you’re proud of (challenge you’ve overcome, etc.)?
Finding a new career path for myself. I have worked as journalist and a janitor, I’ve worked in construction and with children and it took me a while to finally follow my strengths to find a career rather than trying to fix what I saw as my weaknesses.
What led you to counselling?
I have benefitted so much from counselling in my own life. I have been able to work with and through my own struggles with mental illnesses and life crises with the help of counselling and I wanted to provide that service to others.
Favorite book?
The Brothers Karamazov. I think Dostoevsky understood a lot about mental illness, trauma and the infinite depth of every person’s inner world without fully having the words for it that we have now.
What/who inspires you?
My wife. She courageously takes on new challenges every day and never lets her doubts get in the way of trying something new.
Favorite things to do?
I love reading, especially finding new genres and authors that surprise me. I love playing board games, playing video games and playing with my cat.
What would you tell a client who is meeting you for the first time?
I love to use metaphors in session
One thing you’ve learned from working with people?
I find it easy to work alone and I’ve learned how vital relationships with others are in every aspect of our lives.
